Veterans Day

Veterans Day
I can remember when today was called Armistice Day to commemorate those who sacrificed during the Great War. My grandmother used to talk us about how important the event was to her.
I can remember wearing little red paper carnations at school on Armistice Day.
Then it was changed to Veterans Day to include those who made the final sacrifices in World War II and the Korean War. That was a good change. It is right that we honor all veterans and not just those who died.
The real lesson from Armistice Day and Veterans Day is that freedom is never free and that is purchased for us by the young men and women who volunteer to serve and risk all for others.

Be well and stay happy.
