'tween Weather

‘tween Weather
I call what we are having for weather now in Southern California “’tween Weather.” It is in between being warm and comfortable and cold and uncomfortable. The sun was out and it was warm in a sheltered from the wind spot. Once you got out into the wind, then, it felt much colder.

Normally, I would have been one for wearing shorts and a sweat shirt today except for the wind. I ended up wearing long pants and a long sleeved shirt. When I was out in the Prelude, I had the windows down and heater on a bit.
You have to live in Southern California before you can understand the rationale for driving around with the sunroof open and the car heater on.

My printer
I have a cheap HP printer for the laptop. It is one of those combination printer – copier – scanner models. For the most part, I have been satisfied with it. I never truly loved it like I love my laptop. It did its job and that was that.

My printer seems to be falling apart on me now. I tried to print some envelopes over the weekend with no success. The printer would take in the blank envelope and then stop half way through the print process. I decided that I ought to buy a new machine so I went to CompUSA today.

CompUSA had wide range of low cost, under USD$100, HP, Lexmark, Epson, and Canon printers that did all of what my dying printer did. I was disappointed with all of the color models since they are now being made with five and six very small color ink cartridges instead one large integrated color cartridge.

This was more than what I wanted from a printer. I don’t want to print photos with my computer printer. If I want to print photos from my Sony digital camera, I will take the memory stick to my local Kinko’s and stick it in the Sony photo printer machine and print as many copies as I want to print. I figure there is a cost trade off between the Kinko’s copy method and buying photo quality paper that will deteriorate with time before I can use it and multiple ink cartridges.

It all remains to be seen if I can find a printer that does what I want it to do without spending more than USD$100. I will try Best Buy tomorrow and see what they have to offer in the way of low cost, simple printers.

Carbon Dating Myself
I can remember when the Tournament of Roses Parade was only broadcast in black and white images. Your channel choices ranged from 2 to 13 and that was that was for television choices.

My friend Vivian
I got an email from my friend Vivian today. I had sent her a Happy New Year email and an invitation to have our missed lunch from December sometime this year. She said that she had been ill and then there were the holidays and lots of other distractions including work. Vivian said that next week was a good time for a dinner or lunch.

I wrote back saying that next week or next month was fine with me and hopefully our meal will not be next year.

Woman of the Moment
One reason why I favor models and Asian actresses is they have lots and lots of photos of themselves available on the Internet. American actresses seem to avoid the Internet like a bad review or a doomed film project. For example, the next Weekend Bonus Feature actress – model, Eriko Sato, had tons of photos on the Internet. I stopped my photo acquisition project at page four of the Google Image search with 58 images. I will admit that many of the images were similar, she was wearing a bikini, but that is not all bad to me.

Kyoko Hasegawa is primarily a television actress although she was in a film that is in post production now and she is filming a new project now.

Be well and stay happy.
