Waitin' for the Plumber

Waitin’ for the Plumber
My water heater failed sometime last night.

I discovered the failure when I woke up this morning and stepped into a muddle of water. This was certainly not as auspicious start for the month. I called the plumbing company that I have used before to come out and replace the water heater. I figured that one company was as good as another company since they all have jobs that were placed yesterday or before that.

I phoned in and left a message.

The dispatcher called me back fairly quickly. She asked if I wanted an estimate for a water heater replacement. I said, “No, the water heater failed last night and I need a new one.”

The dispatcher was very sympathetic to my condition. She said the earliest she could have some one come out was between 1:00 and 3:00 PM. This was not what I wanted to hear but I suppose that it is better than sometime tomorrow.

I did go out and purchase one of those wet-dry vacuums so I could pick up the water in the rug. I don’t think I’m going to have a lot of time for blog writing today.

By the end of the day, I expect to be fairly proficient in the operation of a wet-dry vacuum.

I guess the one thing I can be happy about is that it will not be over 85F / 30C today while I am cleaning up.

Still waitin’ for the plumber
The plumber did arrive around 2:00 which was fine with me. Unfortunately, the street is posted for no parking on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 for street sweeping.

Write off Wednesday.

The dispatcher called to see if I could reschedule for tomorrow morning. I have a meeting at 9:30 in the morning in Orange County so that effectively kills off Thursday morning. We are going to try for Thursday afternoon and we may be successful then. Otherwise, I am looking at Friday morning and that just sucks.

Woman of the Moment
At least I had one bright spot for the day with Sunisa Kim and the Woman of the Moment.

On a related note, I did share a Mercedes Terrell image with Doug. It was one he had not seen yet.

Be well and stay happy.
