Weekend Preview - January 11th
Weekend Preview
Well, here it is the weekend. I’m looking forward to the weekend and relaxing. I have some plans and they seem fairly firm right now.
Tomorrow, Doug and I are going to get together while he gets a new digital camera and an Apple iBook computer. We plan to go to Albertacos for lunch since it has been a long time since we were there. I am looking forward to a Number 8 with a medium drink.
On Saturday, I am supposed to go to the theater and see “Camelot.” It will star Michael York. This performance is the first stop of a national tour of the production. I am sort of looking forward to the production.
Then, I have lesson plans and dissertation writing to do so that will round out my weekend. I will probably end up doing some other things as well.
Teaching
I had my second class today. This class will probably be my favorite class. I like it for a variety of reasons including the fact the students seem to want to be there and they are alive and energized for the class.
My biggest challenge is having them accept the idea that I will be their teacher for the rest of the term. That was the most common question this morning. Normally, I would be upset with the question but, given the students’ frustration with continuing substitutes, their concern is very logical and resaonable. One substitute knew nothing about marketing; not very good for a Principles of Marketing class.
Plastic Surgery
You all know I watch a Korean daily soap opera show. Don’t ask me to explain why I watch the show. As Doug would say, “It is what it is.”
I don’t understand most of the commercials because they are in Korean which makes sense since I am not part of the target market demographic. There was tonight for a local Korean plastic surgeon. I know it was for plastic surgery because the advertisement featured before and after photos.
There was one before and after photo that I had trouble understanding why the woman had the procedure done. I understood the face lifts because they removed wrinkles and sagging skin. I also understood a rhinoplasty [new nose].
I didn’t understand why a Korean woman would want to have lips like Angelina Jolie. Granted, I think Angeline Jolie is stunning in all respects. I thought a set of very full lips on a narrow Korean face did not create a nice visual for me.
El Gringo
I went to El Gringo on Wednesday for my dinner. I had expected to see Valerie the Server. Valerie was not working because she was studying for her nursing classes. Valerie swapped work shifts with another server who was not as friendly and that was fine with me.
I had a green burrito for my dinner. It is a chicken filled burrito with rice and beans. It is called a green burrito because it is served with a green sauce. Clever with the names. It was modestly spicy and I enjoyed it. I may have it on Sunday for my late lunch and early dinner meal.
Woman of the Moment
Say good bye to Kyoko Hasegawa, unless I bring her back in a Best of Feature. We will have a new Woman of the Moment on Sunday in the Weekend Update.
These photos also illustrate why men should never become attached to a woman's haiur style, color, and length of hair. They are all subject to immediate change.
I hope you all have a great weekend gentle readers. Be well and stay happy.
