Weekend Preview - June 7th
Weekend Preview
This is not going to be a very exciting weekend for your humble scribe. I will be writing lesson plans for my five classes that I am scheduled to teach in the next term.
Now, that’s a less than fulfilling time if there ever was one.
I will go to El Gringo on Sunday for a late lunch or early dinner and I hope to see Jess the Server there.
Let’s see what else can I write about today.
Doug and I went out to dinner twice this past week. Mostly, I was not in the mood for cooking on Monday so we went to L. A. Food Show because we both enjoy the food there, especially the Avocado Bacon Cheese Chicken Egg Rolls. The egg rolls were great as usual. I had a Show Burger which is about eight ounces / 225 grams of grilled beef along with some sliced tomatos, Swiss cheese, avocado, onions, and lettuce. It was excellent. Doug had some chicken marsala. It looked very good and Doug said it was excellent as well. They gave him what looked like a double portion of mashed potatos and some grilled asparagus.
Our other dinner was at El Gringo last night. Lindsay the Server was not working last night. I wonder if it was just a temporary event or a permanent one. I guess I will have to go back and see in a week or two. I had two soft grilled mahi mahi tacos with rice and refried beans. Doug had a carnitas burrito. We certainly did enjoy watching the Ducks win the Stanley Cup while we had our dinners.
I was excited because I got an invitation to participate in a survey for the restaurant. In exchange for participating, I could get a free appetizer anytime within the next two weeks. That would be great because Vivian and I were going to have lunch at L. A. Food Show on Sunday afternoon.
When I checked with Vivian, actually to confirm the lunch time and place, things fell apart for me. Vivian and I had made the lunch meeting just before she went to Cannes for the Film Festival. I guess she forgot to put us down on her calendar because she booked a brunch at the House of Blues for this Sunday.
Vivian asked if we could reschedule for the 24th. I said sure. That made Vivian happy and me a little sad because I can’t use the discount coupon for the free appetizer now. It will have expired before the 24th.
Oh well, life happens.
I got an email from one of my former students yesterday. He or she sent out a group email to former instructors asking if one or more of us would be willing to write a letter of recommendation in connection with a job interview. The student only put his or her initials down on the email so I have no idea who it was.
I don’t think I could have written a letter for the student anyway since I think I only had the student for half of the term. I would not be able to give as complete an evaluation as I could with a student that I had for a full term.
I looked the photo of Amy and me after the Chuckay Dinner. Amy did not look very happy in the photo. She does not like to have her photo taken. I found another photo from the dinner where she was smiling.
See Amy can smile and very nicely too.
I got my instructor evaluations from last term. This was my first full term. I received all high marks from the students. My students gave me better marks and comments like “great instructor,” “great teacher, would love to have for next few classes,” and “Mr. Reinhardt is still the best teacher I’ve had at this school so far. I hope that he teaches the majority of my business class until I graduate.” Almost all of the students would recommend me as the instructor for their course to other students.
I felt really good today when my department chair handed the evaluations to me. Comments and evaluations like these make you want to do a better job in the coming term.
I also picked up my textbooks for the new classes today as well. I have about ten pounds / four and half kilograms of textbooks to carry to class, not on the same day though. Some of them actually look interesting to me.
Skeet on Mischa
I was talking to Doug at dinner last night about the end of his blog. He said that he may continue to write the blog for a while longer. I guess the end of the blog will be delayed a bit more. I said that he could post a blog comment in Balancing Checkbooks since he is team member. I think everyone would be able to recognize that there was a different writer. Doug sometimes has run on sentences and limits the use of the spell check functions.
Woman of the Moment
Now is a good time to end with Bipasha Basu. I learned today from chatting with an acquaintance from India that Bipasha Basu is considered a sex symbol in India. Looks like I made another great choice.
I think it was her eyes that drew me to her the most. The first photo I saw of her is the one of her in the burgundy top that lead off the Woman of the Moment section yesterday. Those eyes do catch your attention.
Be well and stay happy and have a great weekend.
