Meeting in San Diego
Hello again gentle readers. This is going to be a short blog because I don’t have too much to say.
Days
It was Day 56 today. Nothing was happening at the building next door when I left the office for my meeting in San Diego.
Meeting in San Diego
My drive to San Diego only took two hours and four minutes; one of my best times ever for the drive.
I killed time before the meeting by having an ice cream cone of chocolate and coffee ice cream. Very tasty and yummy; I gave the $1.00 off coupon to the receptionist since it is only valid at a local place and I will not be in the area any time soon. It turns out that there is a participating store a few blocks from where she lives.
The meeting went well I think. It ended sooner than I planned for it to end. I made two useful comments in the meeting since the conversation was dominated by my boss’ boss, one other very senior executive and the presenter.
Then, I drove home. The return trip took just about two hours and forty minutes with end of the work day traffic and a wreck that tied up two of the four lanes of traffic on the highway.
I stopped along the way home at DVD Planet.com and picked up CINDERELLA. That was the main reason for stopping. I wanted to pick the DVD up since it will only be out for a limited amount of time. I browsed around and picked up five more DVDs. One was THE PHILADELPHIA STORY that I needed for my American Film Institute 100 Greatest Films collection. I only have nine more films left to get to complete the collection.
The other four films are an odd group. Two were John Wayne World War II era films, FLYING TIGERS from 1942 and SANDS OF IWO JIMA from 1949. SANDS OF IWO JIMA is considered to be a classic by most all United States Marines.
The last films are two of Sergei Eisenstein’s classic sound films, ALEXANDER NEVSKY and IVAN THE TERRIBLE. That is an eclectic selection of films. I will probably start watching them this weekend.
Doug’s G5
The G5 has been resurrected and is back at his house. Doug said it was like a night and day difference.
He still has some troubles and these are known and minor. There is a set up flaw with the Earthlink software. He had this trouble when he first got the G5. He tried to contact an Apple person at Earthlink and ended up with a Wintel person. I guess the boys and girls in Bangalore don’t know the difference between two even though he pushed the Apple button during the voice prompts at the call center.
On the plus side, I am glad to know that I am not the only one who has trouble with the boys and girls in Bangalore.
That about does it for me today gentle readers.
Be well and stay happy.
