Utah lost on Saturday

Utah Lost Badly to North Carolina
I spoke with the Princess to see what happened to our Utes when they played the North Carolina Tarheels on Satrurday. I knew they lost from reading the box score on Sunday but I wanted to hear from the Princess who was at the game.

It was not a pleasant time for the Princess who ended up sitting with the North Carolina fans. She was one person in red in a sea of light blue.

The Princess said it was the worst game she had seen in years. And, she has seen a lot of crummy games over the years including the years she spent on campus. Not a ringing endorsement for the Utes.

The Princess went on to list their faults in no particular order:

12 penalties for over 100 years
5 turnovers
0 or almost no third down conversions
1 North Carolina touchdown scored on the opening kickoff

On the plus side, the weather was nice for the game and the weekend. She said it was warm and sunny.

In fact, aside from the game, she said it was a really nice weekend.

Then, we talked about going to the theater and dinner with Sharon. The Princess always liked Sharon best of all the women I have known since my divorce. The Princess thinks I should marry Sharon. I’m not sure if either one of us are ready for that idea just yet.

Earthlink technical support
I had to call Earthlink technical support tonight. What a painful, painful experience.

I have been an Earthlink customer long enough to remember when technical support was located in Southern California and everyone was knowledgeable and friendly. Now, we have to deal with the boys and girls in Bangalore, Mumbai or wherever they are located now.

It wouldn’t be so bad if they stopped trying to sound like Americans. The tech support person I got stuck with was calling herself Christy or Kristi. There was no way that she sounded like any Kristi I ever knew.

I would be happy if they just used an Indian name; I know they are in India somewhere in a tech support cubicle plantation with the cruel overseers tracking the time they spent on problem resolution.

Kristi did not listen to my problem. That bothered me greatly. I may not be a genius at tech support but I sure knew more about my problem than she will ever learn. She did not understand the problem was with a section of the Earthlink servers.

If she had followed Mr. Sherlock Holmes’ method of deductive reasoning of eliminating all that can be eliminated, then whatever is left is the cause of the problem. Since I could do everything but get to my Earthlink home page, it seems to me the problem was with the home page servers.

Anyway, after getting no where with Kristi, I sighed and hung up. There are, after all, other DSL providers who can do the job for less money. Tech support is not going to be too much better but I will end up paying less for the non-service I don’t get.

Days
55 days down and how many more to go before construction starts up again at the building next door?

I think I will post this blog and then see if I can fix my Earthlink home page problem.

Be well and stay happy.
