Sudoku Puzzles

Sudoku Puzzles
I do sudoku puzzles in my local paper almost everyday. I find them interesting and mentally stimulating.

The object of the puzzle is to have the rows and columns contain the numbers 1 to 9 and the boxes of nine numbers contain 1 to 9 with no repetition in a row or column. It sounds simple enough; it can be tricky in application.

These puzzles have four degrees of difficulty; gentle, moderate, tough, and diabolical. They start out with around 26 to 30 of the 81 numbers filled in. I am able to complete almost all of the puzzles. I do have trouble with the tough and diabolical rated puzzles but that seems to be expected.

Sometimes, the stated degree of difficulty doesn’t match up with the time required to complete the puzzle. Last Friday was a diabolical rated puzzle that took about eighteen minutes for me to complete. This morning’s puzzle was rated as gentle and yet it took almost twice as long to complete.

Some puzzles are better than other puzzles I guess

Woman of the Moment
I particularly like Salma Hayek’s ability to play a range of characters from THE WILD WILD WEST to SPY KIDS 3-D to FRIEDA to DOGMA. That’s a pretty good range I think.

Liz the Lonely
Today is Day Two of the Liz the Lonely telephone vigil.

I haven’t gotten a call yet from Liz the Lonely as of the time I posted this blog entry. Of course, she could always be running late or incredibly messed up with work and distractions like that.

There is the alternative hypothesis that holds she is trying to figure out a way to avoid seeing me. She is thinking that if I don’t call him I won’t have to see him.

She knows I will not call her or email hear. I’m not one of those people who like to play relationship games. That’s because I don’t have her personal phone number and she told me, in no uncertain terms, that she doesn’t allow her friends to email her using her company email. Yes, I could look the company phone number up in MSN.com White Pages and call her but that option has a very horrible pay off potential for me.

If things with Liz the Lonely go bust, then I know my friend Lisa the Matchmaker will try again with a new name and a new face. Lisa the Matchmaker is determined to end my single life.

Vivian’s Man of the Moment
Vivian sent me her choice for Thursday’s Man of the Moment.

We had an email exchange about men’s ages. She was concerned that he might be too old. I looked him up on the Internet Movie Database and found out he was 43. Vivian said that was not too old for her.

Naturally, I suggested that she be nice to older men.

I think Vivian chose to ignore my suggestion.

Lakai Skate Shoes
I had planned to go shopping for some new Lakai skate shoes at the local skate and surf shops today. I decided to stay home and read a magazine out on the balcony while it was sunny. I heard on the local television news show that there was a possibility of rain tomorrow or Thursday.

I know the rain will not be heavy; just strong enough to make a mess of the car.

I suppose that it could be worse. We could be experiencing a very strong El Nino weather pattern with very heavy rains. A strong El Nino weather pattern could easily double or almost triple our normal rainfall.

Another good reason to live on a hill at the top and to be thankful the building has a new roof installed.

Be well and stay happy.
