Here it is Wednesday already
This week has moved by fairly fast or so it seems to me. Maybe this is because I wrote the Weekend Update on Monday instead of Sunday.
Our weather at the beach had changed from warm and sunny to cool and cloudy. The cool and cloudy is more like the usual May and June weather along the coast. This is fine with me; it is one reason why I live at the beach.
I received an invitation to participate in an online survey today. I get a lot of these invitations. The thing that made the survey remarkable to me was the choices of language the respondent could select from. I could have taken the survey in English which I did, Italian, or Vietnamese. I thought Italian and Vietnamese were odd choices. But then, the party that wanted the information may have been focusing on some rather specific groups.
We are having a major urban wild fire in Los Angeles right now. The fire is the big local news story on television. It is also an excellent source of comedy. The local new s reporters dress in casual clothes and then put on a bright yellow jacket. Do they think I will think they are close to the fire? Of course not, I know the fire department won’t let any civilian any where near the fire or in a place of danger.
There was a press briefing today. All of the politicians were there; the mayor of the City of Los Angeles has never met a television camera that he didn’t love. The biggest laugh was the Chief of the Los Angeles Fire Department. He was wearing a regular firefighters’ uniform; he looked like a giant banana slug. The closest embers were miles away so there was no reason to dress like this.
I guess he wanted to look the part. It was time to send in the clowns.
Woman of the Moment
I was reading the television schedule when I got home today or tonight. I saw that I had missed Carmen Electra’s appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. I wonder if she had anything profound to say. I suppose this is a good reason for having a digital video recorder connected to the television.
I will have to make do with some more image of Carmen. This will work for me.
The New Stylist
I got a phone call from the new stylist today. She called to say that she was back in town and looking forward to cutting my hair soon. This was a pleasant surprise for me. I will need to get my haircut before I go to Atlanta to see the Princess for her belated birthday. Now, I can look nice in the photos.
Visitors
I forget to mention in the Weekend Update that last week was the first time that the blog had a visitor from Bahrain.
El Gringo
Doug and I decided to go to El Gringo for dinner tonight. I put on long pants because of the fog and cooling evening air. The brisk breezes off of the ocean certainly helped me with the decision.
Lindsay the Server was working at El Gringo tonight. Lindsay is young and attractive and I guess this is nice. I do feel uneasy when she keeps calling me, “Hun.” Lindsay is young enough to be Doug’s girl friend.
Anyway.
I had two grilled mahi mahi soft tacos with rice and beans. Doug had a carnitas burrito. We both agreed that the meal was filling and slightly spicy. Slightly spicy was fine with me.
El Gringo was crowded when we arrived so it was a while for Lindsay to take our order. We ate tacos chips and salsa while we waited. I think I had too many taco chips. Oh well, life and food happen.
Be well and stay happy.
