Hot and Sunny
Hot and Sunny.
It has been hot and sunny and breezy in Southern California for the last few days. The temperature got up to 88F / 31C at the beach yesterday. It was a little cooler today. These were great days to be at the beach watching young women.
Work was an unwelcome intrusion on my plans for a day at the beach, on the hot sand.
The weather will cool off by the coming weekend and that will be nice for me.
This coming weekend is Mother’s day in the United States. Since my mother passed on almost twenty years and because I am divorced, I do not do much in the way of celebrating the event. I do remind The Princess and Doug to get their mother a card. I got an email today from Morton’s that advertised a Mother’s Day steak dinner for two for only USD$99; that is a real bargain.
Amy & Chuckay Dinner – Part II
I was at the market, picking up the week’s supply of provisions and bottled water, when Amy called me. Cell phones are certainly convenient and very useful at times.
Amy called me from work to thank me for taking her to the Chuckay Dinner and for getting her a take home Morton’s Hot Chocolate Cake dessert that she shared with her neighbor. The cakes are rich enough to share even though they are very small. This made my day for me.
I said Doug and I were very glad that she could join us. We enjoyed her company a great deal. Besides, it is very difficult in Southern California to find a woman who really loves a well cooked slab of excellent beef these days. Amy loves Morton’s at a dinner destination. That makes her the perfect dinner companion.
I was very lucky that I had my debit card with me. I only had one free hand while I went through the market checkout with the clerk. I think the market clerk was bothered because I was more interested in talking to Amy than I was in paying any attention to her.
I almost felt like one of obnoxious people who talk on their cell phones at all times, mostly about nothing. Then, I realized that I was talking to Amy and all was well for me.
Teaching
My Saturday class has poor attendance. You knew that by now. I have tried just about everything I can think of to get the students to come to class. Since some of the students have absolutely no troubling lying to me about being in class, it is hard to see what I can do.
I got an email from the Dean today. I have to prepare an action plan to improve my class’ attendance. I have no idea what more I can do to get the students in the class. I will stop by the Dean’s Office on Thursday and see if he has any more suggestions for me.
I have one suggestion and that would be to drop a student who has missed five out of eight classes so far. We drop her and the attendance rate improves dramatically.
Perfectomundo.
The Princess
The Princess gave me a call yesterday to wish me a Happy Birthday. That was very nice of her. She also posted a Happy Birthday comment in the blog.
Woman of the Moment
Let’s end the day with several views of Carmen Electra. This has always worked for me and I hope it works for you.
Be well and stay happy.
