Memorial Day - May 31, 2010

Freedom is never free. It was bought and paid for and will be paid for by countless young men and women who have made and who will make the ultimate sacrifice.

It was also paid for by generations of veterans who sacrificed their time and liberty to ensure the freedom of others. Some veterans were welcomed home with parades and others were spat upon by those they sought to protect.

If you are enjoying your freedom, be sure to thank a veteran.

Here’s a very shortlist of other simple things you can do to honor your freedom and those who paid for it:

Take off your hat when the National Anthem is played.

Stand up for the playing of the National Anthem.

Stand up and take your hat off when the National Flag passed you in a parade.

I am very proud to have been able to put on the uniform of the United States and to have taken the President’s dollar when I served in the United States Navy.

Be well and stay happy.
